Yamato Japanese Seafood in Toronto

Friendly atmosphere. The cooking table had very limited spacing. It feels like we were sitting on each other, that’s how tight the space was. Not really kids friendly. I wouldn’t go back to celebrate a special occasion.

This place is my favorite site. Of all restaurants I know I love it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this place. everytime I I need a good lunchon, this is the place that comes instantly to my mind. superb and varied food and a large list of dishes.great staff members, and nice mood. In addition to that, the expence is good. I sent my friends to this restaurant with no doubt.

Yamato is a great restaurant! Japanese chefs can cook in front of you so it is a great experience. I advise you to go there with metro. It is hard to get a parking, and it is better like this so you can try their great Sako :) Everything I tried here was really good so I recommend to visit Yamato! I'll come back for sure!

Oh my God! So yummy! The appetizers must be sprinkled with crack because I just craved for more and more. This was one of the best mouth-watering burgers I've had grace my taste buds in a long time. Everything was just so yummy. I found the ambiance to be very charming. This is definitely a spot I'll be frequenting.

We had several kinds of sushi with tempura as an appetizer and warm sake along with it. The service was all nice and we liked it. They were all welcoming every guests and the restaurant is clean and fine. We enjoyed everything expect when we found out that our bill was mistakenly overpriced by the employee's mistake. Had we not read through the bill, we would have paid more than we had.

The place is near downtown and they have a nice location. You need to call for a reservation for safety because I found the place highly crowded. The food is good and the chefs are friendly. However, the place is expensive. I visited similar restaurants before and ordered Saki every time. I could not have Saki here as it was very expensive.

This restaurant might be the city’s best kept secret. Just picture Benihana’s with better prices, better service, and better food. Well that’s Yamato. This place is so Japanese that they wipe down the chairs to clean them after service.

Incredibly fresh seafood here. Our chef, York, was terrific and highly entertaining. I'd recommend Yamato as a destination restaurant following a wonderful show like Come From Away!

An engaging lunch experience! Our group enjoyed a frontrow experience of our food preparation. Among our group all were pleased with quality, taste and temperature of our lunch. I was especially impressed with the care for shellfish allergies at our table. The sequence of cooking was coordinated with this need in mind.

This is one of my favourite sushi restaurants in Toronto. Why? Because the fish is so fresh! Every single piece melts in your mouth. They torch the pieces before they bring it out to you so it’s extremely fresh. When I go, I get that sashimi dinner and it is extremely filling (and you must savour every single bite). I’ve also had the tofu appetizer, which was good, and my friend had the sushi pizza, which was fantastic as well. However! I gave this restaurant four out of five stars because I ordered the sashimi dinner to go one night and they gave me far less fish than they do in the restaurant. So I would never recommend getting anything to-go here.

I love this place. Food was AMAZING, especially the steak. It's reasonably priced for the place and the atmosphere. Very spacious restaurant. There's a chef cooking the main course in front of us and he was very nice. I would love to come back and 100000% recommend everyone.

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE EATING EXPERIENCES EVER! The service reminds me of the service in Japan! So effortless and mindful of the customers. Our chef Oliver was so engaging and talented! He was entertaining, engaging, and talented the entire night through! I was so satisfied with his performance I couldn't even eat the beautiful food he made us. Such a perfect date night spot! It's a must visit! Definitely make reservations before coming and be prepared for some tight quarters parking.

We went for dinner before a show. We were seated at a prep table with another two couples and a kid. The chef was preparing all the food in front of us. It was very entertaining and mesmerizing to watch how skillful he was. The food was great and tasty. The steak was well done and soft at the same time, just how we like it. The only thing I would change was to pay a bit of attention to all the guests at the table not only the child. She got all the tricks and hearts and special treats and none was left for the rest of the group.

Excellent experience. I had great time at another japanese steakhouse and thought I'd take the family here. It was well worth it. Kids loved it. The presentation was awesome and the food was great. A little on the pricier side but worth the money.

Updated Mar 11, 2018. 4 to 5 star upgrade. This place has been one of the most consistent restaurants ever. Owned and operated by Japanese, it really shows their dedication to excellence. Especially when you consider the value, these guys haven't changed their prices despite min wage increase, cost of food getting more expensive. After 5 years of visiting here, I am a huge fan now. We love eating out. Yesterday we came to this fine place which friends recommended to us. We enjoyed a beautiful evening there with excellent dishes and an efficient stuff and a professional chef. We added this fine restaurant in our list and we will certainly come back very soon. We deeply recommend.

Very delicious food. The sashimi was extremely good. Most of the pieces were very fresh but some were not so much. Overall positive experience. Great atmosphere. Friendly and polite customer service.

I have to say, the way the Japanese aim to please, is just awe-inspiring. 👌Tried tepanyaki for the first time ever, and was quite impressed.Harvey-our chef at this restaurant, was awesome and the food was delicious and the portions large.It was very packed. You can only get in with a reservation. Plan ahead! If you're in the downtown Toronto area, this is a convenient location, right in the heart of Yorkville.

I like to go with friends to this place with my highest recommendations. I go their often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The dishes they serve are fantastic and the crew is very friendly and cooperative. Every time we visit this place we enjoy a lovely evening. I warmly recommend this restaurant.

The host could have done better, arrived 15 mins before my reservation, but the host told me to wait at the bar until everyone arrives...I have never been asked to do that for a reservation before, and the host’s attitude wasn’t the best. It just felt very unwelcoming, it didn’t happen the last time I was here so I don’t know if they changed the staff. Food wise, great sashimi, but some pieces weren’t so fresh tho, like tuna.

Group of 12-15 people and we all had a Great experience. The chief played good role to entertain us and make our food with happiness and fun!😃eating moments.😋It was my 1st time trying Japanese drinks 🍷 so I would say if you are not big fan of different tastes try to go with other wine or beer 🍺 selection. The taste of Japanese wines and drinks was 😏 🤑🤔🤫Just personal opinion.

We went to the restaurant to celebrate our Anniversary. The preparation of the food was very entertaining and the food was amazing. I really like the Soft Crab appetizer. The was service was exceptional. All around it is a great restaurant if you are looking for a higher scale place to eat.

Really good food the wait can be a little long if you're waiting for hibachi. The chef's have a great sense of humour, and definitely talented in their cookingThe food portions are large, though they have similar flavour profile. It's definitely an experience to have, more for the show than the food.

Service is nice, food is above average. I don’t like the sirloin here cause it’s beefy and over cooked, but seafood is good.
